GOLD CARD – SKILLED WORKER

You may qualify for a gold skilled card if you have achieved an NVQ or SVQ level 3, or if you have completed an approved indentured apprenticeship (e.g.with NJCBI, BATJIC etc.) or an employer sponsored apprenticeship and completed a City and Guilds of London Institute Advanced Craft Certificate.

If you do not have these qualifications, you may apply for a skilled card if you are experienced in your job see Experienced Worker Card for more information.

GOLD CARD – SUPERVISOR

You may qualify for a gold supervisor card if you are involved in supervisor occupations.

Cards can be applied for through industry accreditation, for three years from release date, or by achievement of an NVQ or SVQ level 3 in a supervisory occupation.

Some of these occupations may be covered by the Professional Membership Mapped Route.

For those who apply after industry accreditation has closed, entry will be by NVQ or SVQ level 3 or by applying for an experienced manager card.

Some of the roads included in our work are Beverley Road from Derringham Street to Desmond Avenue, Argyle Street, Cottingham Road between Newland Avenue and Beverley Road, Hall Road, Preston Road from Annadale to Southcoates plus all the anti skid on Preston Road, Southcoates from Hedon Road and Preston Road.

The trade association RSMA is the biggest specialist trade association in the highways area, and push for standards of  Health & Safety, Quality, and Training in support of its members.

With it been the largest of all the specialist trade associations within the highways sector the RSMA has seen huge growth over the last 8 years or so, companies joining them has doubled to 90 member companies. Also the number of professional staff available to support member companies which in the beginning was only one is now ten.

The RSMA has developed a large NVQ Assessment Centre, this helps companies qualifying in excess of 550+ road marking operatives. The centre offers a wide range of NVQ and training solutions for Road marking companies around the UK.

The RSMA works with CSkills for clients has also been at the edge of the development of Specialist modern apprenticeships, introducing the first of its kind within the Highways sector, which now form the only externally recognised route for road marking operative training.

The look of a zebra crossing is characterised by horizontal stripes when crossing the road or vertical when in a car coming to a stop infront of them.

That then explains the term, named after the zebra, alternately a light colour white in the UK and a dark one, painted black in the UK. (or totally left unpainted if surface of the road itself is of a dark colour).

The stripes or markings are roughly about 400 to 600 millimetres wide.

A good point to make to everyone………….Pedestrians always have right of way on a zebra crossing.

This shows all planned road projects which could include the widening of roads,  the construction of roundabouts and what ever the work, it will always need new road markings. Double yellows, central white lining, give way lining, hatching, zebra crossings and so on.

The reason for a lot of these projects for roads could include a few of the following:

• Reduce congestion and provide additional capacity
• Restrict access onto the trunk road
• Improve road safety
• Provide a bypass for villages
• Improve journey time reliability
• Minimise the impact of the improved road on the surrounding areas.
• Develop a scheme that is well engineered and economically viable
